As part of the “Learn with WebFuel” series, our WebFueler, Helen Faber, recently presented at an Ottawa Girl Geek Dinner. It was a great turnout of Ottawa’s female techies; with lots of engagement and great questions about the technical side of SEO.

The topic was The State of Search in Canada (along with some history), and where search is headed in Canada. The primary focus of the discussion was on search related cases (true stories from the field). And… there was some live searching.

What search related cases were covered?

          • Compromised SERPs
          • Stolen Web Traffic
          • Canonicalization
          • Drops in Rankings
          • Bad Links

Here is the presentation…

And… we loved the tweets #ggdottawa!

What is #SEO really?

We’d like to thank Ottawa Girl Geek Dinner for the invitation to speak – and for putting on an excellent PD event.

This is the second “Learn with WebFuel” presentation this year. Last month, Helen presentation was on the non-technical side of SEO which was given to Marketers & Communicators at IABC Ottawa. Her next presentation will be delivered at Algonquin College in the this Fall.

WebFuel also hosts the Ottawa Search & Digital Marketing Meetup. It’s educational as well. We invite Canadians to present on industry related topics. If you are not already a member, join today!
